The Business Review has named CMJ, LLP, CPA’s (CMJ) one of the Great Places to Work in the Capital Region. The award recognizes the company’s achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of benefits, working conditions and company culture.

Queensbury-based CMJ was one of the 125 companies to enter, making the top 30 list based on the strength of its employee evaluations.

Curtis, Managing Partner and William Jeffreys, Audit Partner are strong proponents of team work and group purpose, which has earned the loyalty of staff and an impressive array of clients in very diverse business sectors. “Our staff works hard and diligently to fulfill our goals for client care, service and professionalism. We strive to maintain our excellent reputation in the community, and sincerely appreciate our employees support, commitment to purpose and teamwork according to Curtis and Jeffreys.”

“One of our employees, Sarah, nominated the Firm because of her belief in our organization, its leadership, its people and our unique culture. We set high standards of performance and recognize and reward results. We value our clients and each other and have created a work environment that is unique in our area and in our profession” said Gretchen Steffan, Human Resources Consultant “The Firm is very proud of its employees, and we’re honored to be a winner of this award.”

“Employees are proud to work for companies that are about more than business,” said Mike Hendricks, Business Review editor. “And the results show how creating the right work environment can create powerful business advantages.”

The top companies will be profiled in a special supplement of The Business Review issued on December 8 and will be honored at a celebration on December 7 at the Crowne Plaza in Albany.

Companies were evaluated on an objective 40-question survey completed by employees of participating companies. Employees scored their respective companies on a six-point scale. The results were compiled and analyzed by The Business Review’s research partner, Quantum Market Research.

The survey takes the following strategic measures into account:

The best places to work are companies that don’t cut back their commitment to employees in a down economy, while asking them to work harder and smarter,” said Business Review publisher Carolyn Jones. “They recognize employees as their best asset, instrumental in maintaining the quality and reputation for services and products. It’s a smart – and winning – business strategy.”

“We work at being open and innovative,” said Curtis and Jeffreys “and we’re proud to be recognized by the area’s leading business journal for our efforts by being named one of the Great Places to Work in the Capital Region.
